AFC Fylde v Southport preview

A game Southport supporters have been looking forward to since the fixtures were announced and our first ever league fixture against AFC Fylde takes place on Bank Holiday Monday with a 3pm Kick Off.

Our only previous game against The Coasters was in the FA Trophy in 2019-20 which saw a 4-1 defeat, a game in which our scorer on that day was Jack Sampson, now a member of the AFC Fylde squad. Also in the AFC Fylde squad is another former ‘Port player Liam Nolan.

AFC Fylde have a 100% record after thumping Hereford 4-1 at Edgar Street on Saturday. Danger man Nick Haughton was amongst the goals once again.

Southport on the other hand go into the game with two points from the opening three fixtures but having played well and deserved a lot more from the games.

It’s a quick turnaround for both sides and Southport will have a good following making the short trip up the coast all looking forward to giving the lads 100% backing in what we know will be a tough encounter.
