Annual service to help people remember loved ones is open to all
MEMBERS of the public are invited to attend a special church service in Southport to remember their loved ones.
Since 2014 the Spiritual Care Service team at Southport Hospital has held an annual service that gives people the chance to remember family members or friends they have lost.
The service, which this year takes place at Cornerstone Methodist Church on Sunday, November 5, is led by hospital chaplains Martin Abrams and Jan Fraser along with Elaine Deeming, Assistant Director of Nursing, End of Life and Bereavement Lead
Martin, the hospital’s Spiritual Care and Chaplaincy Manager, said: “It is a gentle, reflective service and the feedback suggests religious and non-religious people have found it helpful.
“During the service there will be opportunity to remember loved ones in different ways, including lighting a candle, placing a flower of remembrance and placing a heart on the tree of remembrance and following the service there will be time for reflection, conversation and refreshments.’’
The service, which starts at 10.30am is open to everyone, and there is no need to book a place.
