Body of missing man found on Formby Beach

Police can confirm that the body of a man found at Formby beach on Friday 6 October is that of missing 77-year-old Robert Ferdinand.

Officers searching for Mr Ferdinand in the area located the body of a man at around 2.50pm, and he was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

He has been formally identified as Mr Ferdinand, who had been reported missing on Tuesday 3 October, and officers are supporting his family at this difficult time.

His death is being treated as unexplained and the case has been referred to the coroner’s office.
