Celebrity Wildlife Presenter, Hamza Yassin, to Share His Passion at Southport Flower Show

Popular Wildlife Cameraman, Presenter and Strictly Winner to entertain the crowds at this year’s Southport Flower Show

Hamza Yassin will be joining us on Saturday 16thAugust.

Hamza is a passionate, and highly knowledgeable wildlife cameraman, photographer and presenter. His wonderfully warm and accessible presenting style have made him a star within the natural history television genre.

Hamza’s Wild Isles documentary programme in 2024 was a huge success and audiences will be able to see his new series for the BBC entitledHamza’s Hidden Wild Isleslater this year. Hamza is known as Ranger Hamza on the hugely popular CBeebies live-action shows Let’s Go For A Walk and Ranger Hamza’s Eco Quest. He has also one of the regular presenters on BBC’s Countryfile and Animal Park.  Previously he has shared his vast knowledge and camera skills on ITV’s This Morning and The One Show.

Hamza was presenter and cameraman for the one-off Channel 4 documentary; Scotland: My Life in the Wild, documenting Hamza’s own life in the Scottish Highlands and the wildlife that lives there. In a four-part follow-up series called Scotland: Escape to the Wilderness, Hamza guided celebrity companions on journeys through western and eastern Scotland and the Highlands.

In 2022, Hamza was delighted and honoured to lift the glitterball trophy with his professional partner Jowita Przystal, having won BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing!

Hamza has a passion for birds and is a skilled ornithologist and birds nest recorder, with excellent field craft and habitat knowledge.

In 2023, Hamza’s first book, “Be a Birder: The joy of birdwatching and how to get started”, was published by Gaia, Octopus Books. In the book, Hamza shares his stories of birdwatching over the years and teaches beginner birders his personal tips and tricks to get started in this fascinating hobby that is so close to his heart.

Hamza’s second book,Hamza's Wild World,was published by MacMillan Children's Books in 2024. It's packed with fun and fascinating animal facts and uses a dyslexic-friendly layout, made in consultation with Dyslexia Scotland.

His new book ‘Homeward Bound: the joy of nature and my life outdoors’will be published in Autumn 2025.

This year’s Southport Flower Show will be held at the wonderful Victoria Park on Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th August. It will be a celebration of floral beauty, fresh flavours, & family fun.
