Councillor overheard saying that Southport Pier may have to be demolished

At last nights planning meeting to approve plans for the new Theatre held at the Waterfront Hotel a local Councillor was apparently overheard saying that the closed Southport Pier may have to be demolished.

Another Councillor wanted to know why the £3m for the new planks did not include money for the steel works?

“EyeOnSouthport understands Sefton Council have flatly denied any demolition plans.”

Sefton Council have been approached for comment.
