Eyre received a 14-year prison sentence and was given an additional five-year extended licence.

David Eyre, 55, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on 23 October 2023 after pleading guilty to multiple counts of sexual offences, including causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, taking, making, and possessing indecent images of children, and possessing extreme pornographic images.

Sarah Egan, Senior Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service, said:

“There is no sentence that could truly reflect the seriousness of a case like this, nor the trauma that has been inflicted. However, the Crown Prosecution Service welcomes the sentence that has been passed, considering the sentencing guidelines for offences of this nature.

“We would like to thank the victim and their family for the courage and strength they have shown throughout the proceedings, as well as the parties involved who have assisted in bringing a successful prosecution. We hope that the prosecution allows the victims to move forward with their lives.

“The Crown Prosecution Service takes crimes of this nature very seriously and will continue to work hard to ensure offenders of child sexual abuse are brought to justice.”
