Damien Moore MP on the sad passing of Lady Madeline Percival wife of Former Southport MP Sir Ian
“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Lady Madeline Percival, the wife of my late predecessor Sir Ian Percival, aged 100.
“In my first week as Southport's MP, Lady Percival kindly invited me into her home to spend the day with her and Robert, her son. We spent time sharing stories about Sir Ian, who became Member of Parliament for Southport in 1959, and was returned at every subsequent election until he retired in 1987.
“I know how highly thought of the Percival family are in Southport, and indeed when I speak to constituents, many do still bring up Sir Ian. It is deeply humbling that his legacy is still felt throughout our wonderful town, in no small part thanks to the support and dedication for which Lady Percival was renowned.
“I would like to extend my deepest condolences to Robert and the rest of the Percival family during this incredibly difficult time.”
