Early Arrival of Kittens at Woodlands Animal Sanctuary
Woodlands – Pre-Season kitten fun & games!
If you would have asked Woodlands Animal Sanctuary a couple of years ago, when they would get their first kittens in, or even just pregnant cats, they would have said April/May. However, the last couple of years it has become earlier and earlier with this year taking the lead. The first pregnant cats came to Woodlands the second week in Feb! That’s not forgetting that their last kittens of last season, had only been rehomed weeks earlier. To have had two litters over the Christmas period, was a first for this local animal charity.
Currently, Woodlands has one litter of kittens on the ground & another who will be arriving any minute. They have their fingers crossed the second litter will arrive without complication so that both mums can be left to nurture their babies as nature intended. Not only is this the preferred way for mum & babies, but it also reduces the cost for this independent charity.
They have already stockpiled some essentials for those litters who will inevitably need hand rearing around the clock, to give them a fighting chance of a future, or even just more of a helping hand. The costs can very quicky spiral with a litter that needs hand rearing and/or has complications. All kittens will be available for rehoming once they are old enough throughout the year.
To keep up to date on the kitten situation follow Woodlands on their socials and get their two open days in your diary, so you can meet all the cats in person. Their Easter open day is on 30 March, 11am – 3pm.
If you would like to support Woodlands and help them fund kitten season, which of course, is simply an increased cost, on top of their usual running costs, you can donate by visiting their website. If you would like to go a step further, you can sign up to give them a monthly donation, which is one of the biggest things you can do to help them financially.
