Early Morning Drama as Police Thwart Attempted Lidl Store Robbery in Southport

Officers responded to a 999 call at 02:20am this morning, reporting that a number of people were trying to break in to the Lidl Store on Virginia Street in Southport. On arrival a man known to have lived locally previously, was arrested at the scene, on suspicion of attempted burglary. The man is currently in custody.
An update will follow as and when a charging decision is made.
