Has Halloween been cancelled in Southport this year as well as The Christmas Lights Switch On?
Normally at this time of year approaching Halloween the much maligned Southport BID are busy promoting the Southport Halloween Festival this year there is nothing on their website.
The Southport Halloween Festival Facebook page has the last post on 27th October 2020.
In recent years street entertainment and a parade down Lord Street have all taken place during the October Half term week. Shops and businesses have been encouraged to decorate their premises with Halloween displays with a prize for the winner donated to their nominated charity. This year there appears to be nothing.
Even last year during the worst times of the Covid pandemic events took place but not this year it seems.
After the BID said regarding Christmas Lights switch on event "It does not deliver any benefits to the levy payers" What hope is there for Halloween?
The website http://www.spookysouthport.com/ dedicated to Halloween has also stopped posting.
The BID has been approached for a comment. .
