Living Well bus to offer cervical screening at three Sefton stops

Four people stand outside a mobile health unit labelled 'The Living Well Bus' with a blue sky backdrop.

The Living Well bus will offer drop-in cervical screening at three Sefton locations in August and September.

The sessions are for women and people with a cervix who have received an NHS reminder for cervical screening, also known as a smear test. No appointment is needed.

  • Wednesday 12 August 2026: May Logan Centre, 294 Knowsley Road, Bootle, L20 5DQ
  • Friday 21 August 2026: Netherton Activity Centre, Glovers Lane, Netherton, L30 3TL
  • Saturday 19 September 2026: 26–28 Chapel Street, Southport, PR8 1BH

All three sessions will run from 10.30am to 4pm.

Cervical screening checks for high-risk types of human papillomavirus (HPV), which can cause changes to cells in the cervix. Finding these changes early can help prevent cervical cancer.

The NHS invites people aged 25 to 64 for routine screening. Anyone who has received a reminder letter can arrange an appointment through their GP. Out-of-hours appointments may be available through the GP Extra Service via a GP.

People can also contact Sefton Sexual Health on 01695 656550 to ask about a cervical screening appointment.

NHS England has set an ambition to eliminate cervical cancer by 2040.

The Living Well bus also visits communities with Covid boosters, health checks and mental wellbeing support. Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust delivers the service, which launched in June 2022 to provide a consistent health and care service across Cheshire and Merseyside.

Activity provided through the service is recorded and shared with a person’s GP, supporting ongoing care.
