Join Hillside Hoppers for a walk through Birkdale Nature Reserve to support Dogs for Good
Hillside Hoppers wish to invite you to walk with us in support of Dogs for Good on Sunday the 7th May@11 from The Grasshopper Sandon Road. The walk should take about an hour and a half through the sand dunes of the Birkdale Nature Reserve. You could meet us at the gate of the reserve in the car park at @11.15.
Since 1988, Dogs for Good has been making life-changing differences for people with disabilities. The charity supports people with complex needs including physical disabilities, autism, dementia, and learning disabilities enabling them to lead more independent lives through the help of trained dogs.
The Hillside Hoppers meet on the first Sunday of each month to raise money for charities, thus far we have raised over £430 for the Dogs Trust, Queenscourt, and The Southport Soup Kitchen.
Organiser, Andrew Macaulay commented, “Since starting up Hillside Hoppers in January, we have been overwhelmed by the support from the local community. Our intentions were to encourage people to get outside and take in the beauty of nature all whilst raising essential funds for charities, which need the help more than ever, and we really feel like we are achieving that. It’s heart-warming to see the people of Southport build a relationship with one another and all for great causes. We’ve chosen Dogs for Good for May’s walk as we all know the difference dogs can make to people’s lives, but for the people they support, dogs can actually make life possible”.
Those interested and would like to attend can keep updated through our social media channels.
Hillside Hoppers are pet friendly, but a dog is not essential to participate and if anyone is unable to make the walk, donations are still encouraged through www.JustGiving.com search for Hillside Hoppers.
