Large HGV seconds away from smashing into the Pier

The driver of the HGV in the picture was just seconds away from smashing into Southport Pier this morning. Having missed the ample warning signs the driver managed to stop. He was then assisted by a member of the public who helped him reverse back to the entrance of the Ocean Plaza.

Large queues of traffic built up as the HGV reversed. The embarrassed driver managed to turn around and choose another route.
