Late Goal Secures Southport’s Victory over Spennymoor

On a cold wet and windy night Southport finally laid the Spennymoor bogey to rest winning our first home league game against the North East side.

A Chris Sze penalty on 32 minutes after Jordan Slew was hauled down in the box and an 86th minute goal from, Luke Tabone, his first for the club were the decisive moments.

Southport had dominated the second half creating plenty of chances but failed to finish them off and at 1-0 it was always making for a nervy end. Our visitors had missed two glaring opportunities to pull the scores level and it took some good saves from Chris Renshaw to keep us ahead.

The late goal settled the nerves and Southport thoroughly deserved the three points to keep the good run going.

We are back in action on Saturday when Oxford City come to Haig Avenue and tickets are on sale onlineHEREright up until kick off.
