Police have received a number of reports from the public about anti-social behaviour in the Formby and Hightown areas.

We’ve also had concerns raised about the illegal and anti-social use of electric bikes in these locations and in the South Sefton area.

On Thursday 19th March, officers from the Southport and Marsh Lane Neighbourhood Policing Teams carried out a joint operation with the Roads Policing Unit and the Force Drones Team to tackle this behaviour.during the operation, one male was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and driving without insurance. The electric bike involved was seized.

Officers also engaged with several youths at Formby Train Station who were acting in an anti-social manner and being abusive towards members of the public.

We want to reassure residents and the wider community that we take these incidents seriously and are committed to keeping the area safe for everyone.

If you have any information about where illegal electric bikes may be stored, please contact us on 101 or submit details online via the Merseyside Police website.

You can also find updates on upcoming police surgeries and community meetings on the Force website.

Thank you
