Man arrested on Eastbank Street Southport

Officers from Merseyside Police were called to Eastbank Street in Southport just before noon today(7th July). The officers stopped two members of the public and questioned them.

A witness nearby thought they may have been stealing from a local shop . Another witness said he thought the man may have had drugs on him.

After being questioned the woman was allowed to walk away. The man was arrested and placed in a police van and taken away for more questioning.
