Man Charged in Connection with Southport Incident Amidst Continuing Investigation
Detectives have charged a man in connection with an incident in Southport on Friday night, 19 July.
We were contacted at 8.25pm after a man in his 20s reportedly fell from the rear of a moving white Peugeot Boxer van during a suspected motorbike theft on The Promenade/Leyland Road.
The man suffered head and chest injuries and has been taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition. Three men were arrested.
Leroy Agatha, 22, of Upper Frederick Street, Liverpool, has been charged with Conspiracy to steal; and Fraud by false representation. He will appear at Wirral Adult Remand Court today, Monday 22 July.
A 22-year-old man from Wavertree and a 19 year-old man from Liverpool City Centre have been conditionally bailed pending further enquiries. The van was forensically recovered after being found in Nolan Street.
Detective Inspector Sarah Wilkinson said: “Although a man has been charged, our enquiries remain very much ongoing. If you live or work locally or were passing the area at around 8.25pm on Friday, check your dashcam, CCTV or other devices and let us know if you have captured this incident.
“A man remains seriously ill in hospital and we are determined to find out exactly what happened and identify all of those involved.”
