Marine 1 Southport 0.

An evening to forget in Crosby as we fell to our third defeat in a row and third game without scoring in a row.
A game of very few chances saw Southport start the brighter as so often has been the case this season but once again unable to find the back of the net.
The only goal of the game came in the 55th minute when Josh Wardle fired home an unstoppable shot past Chris Renshaw in the Southport goal. Ironically it was Wardle who had come on after just 5 minutes to replace an injured and in form former ‘Port player Chris Doyle who had been prolific in recent weeks for The Mariners.
The best chance for the visitors camed when Sonny Hilton hit the post late on but it was not to be and a 16th scoreless game of the season saw The Sandgrounders drop down to 17th in the table but still remain 11 points clear of the drop zone.
