Marine Drive in Southport closed for three days for roadworks.

The Marine Drive in Southport is closed between The Pier and Pleasureland for three days for roadworks.

Large queues of traffic are building up over the Marine Way Bridge and along the Promenade.

1.0 Introduction

1.1 Head of Highways and Public Protection is empowered to authorise a Temporary Road
Closure Order for any period up to 21 days duration.

1.2 In order to carry out carriageway repair works and to maintain safety for operatives and
road users, it will be necessary to close Marine Drive, Southport.

1.3 Work will commence on 14th August 2023 and is due to be completed by 16th August
2023

1.4 The diversion route for all traffic will be via:
Fairway, Promenade, Marine Parade and vice versa.

1.5 Access will be maintained wherever possible for the emergency services and for
residents.

1.6 The contractor has been informed of his obligation to carry out the works in accordance
with Chapter Eight of the Traffic Signs Manual.

1.7 In accordance with Council policy, the applicant for the works, will publicise his
intentions to close the aforementioned highway, by distributing a letter of intention to retail
premises / residents who may be affected by the road closure.
