Martin Mere near Southport will be fully open from 28th March 2023
WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre will fully reopen from 28 March after a partial closure due to avian influenza.
After reopening in November, a section of our site remained temporarily closed following government requirements to protect the birds here and prevent the spread of avian influenza. We are pleased to now be fully reopening, with full access to our site available for visitors to enjoy.
Nick Brooks, Centre Manager said:
"We’re happy to be fully reopening to the public once again, after what was a very difficult time for our team.
Protecting the birds in our care and those seeking winter refuge on our reserve is always our utmost priority and we were grateful for the support and understanding of our supporters whilst a partial closure was in place.
Thankfully, we’re now able to welcome everyone back to our North and South America sections to see wonderful wetland species such as our white storks, Chilean flamingos, and coscoroba swans.”
Families can enjoy exciting activities this season, including exploring the grounds on the hunt for 25 giant yellow ducks as part of the Easter Duck Trail, or finding LEGO® brick animals showcasing beautiful wetland animals.
