Merseyside Police Southport report from Sunday

Here is the update of Neighbourhood Policing activity from Sunday 28th January.

Neighbourhood Police Officers had two stints of foot patrol in Southport town centre, split up by assisting with traffic management at the scene of a road traffic collision, high visibility patrol on Marine Drive in response to reports of cars being driven at excessive speed and a concern for safety for an elderly female.

PCSO’s had more follow up visits to make to victims including visiting a 97 year old man who had reported a damaged fence. This turned out to be due to recent storm damage and not criminal damage. They made a return visit to the victim of the shed burglary in Birkdale and were able to pass on a free shed alarm as a short-term security measure and another visit to a victim required a Vulnerable Persons Report Form completing, in order to try and obtain further support for the victim from the Muti Agency Safeguarding Hub. This is standard practice when officers identify any vulnerabilities when speaking with victims.
PCSO 0053 was on mobile patrol around High Park and Kew retail areas and parks and liaised with a partner agency over another concern for welfare.

Later on, PCSO’s 0240 and 0111 were mobile, making visits to parks and convenience stores in Marshside and Crossens. At one shop, they were able to identify another person responsible for multiple thefts from two stores in the Churchtown area. They will now update the crime reports with ID statements to assist the investigations.

Operation: Pelican officers were out and about on the area, developing intelligence for future action.
This concludes the updates from the last week of Neighbourhood Policing Week. As each week can be different, this is just an example of some of the work that Neighbourhood Police Constables and PCSO’s get involved in. There is much more variety of tasks that we do, when those actions are required. So please don’t think that this week’s posts have documented everything that we do.

It is also important for us to stress that the activity posted has just been from the Neighbourhood Team. Throughout the last week, Response and Resolution Officers have been on duty 24 hours a day, responding to 999 and 101 calls, making arrests and responding to incidents where people have needed the attendance of the police. We haven’t (and don’t), document every incident and arrest made in Southport/Formby on our social media channels.

Investigations team officers, CID etc will have been following up with investigation work and Roads Policing Officers have attended any road traffic collisions where there was an injury. So there has been a far greater police presence in the Southport and Formby area on top of the neighbourhood Team. We have different teams, with different remits and skills, working together as one team across Merseyside Police, with the aim of putting our communities first.

We will aim to put more detail out in future social media posts, but not to the level that we have this week. If you want to get in touch with your local Neighbourhood Police Officers of PCSO’s, go on to the Merseyside Police website at https://orlo.uk/GEu7B , enter your postcode and you will be taken to the page detailing the officers dedicated to your street.
We hope to see you on the streets soon.
