More motorbikes stolen in Southport
A statement from Merseyside Police.
Yesterday we posted that three 125cc motorcycles and a scooter had been stolen in Southport overnight between the 27th-28th July.
Sadly, today we have to report that two more 125cc motorcycles have been stolen. One from outside an address on Knowsley Road in the early hours of today (Thursday 29th July) and a second this afternoon, which was parked outside the Spar on Liverpool Road in Birkdale (The Crown end) between 2:00PM and 3:00PM.
We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen either of these two bikes being stolen, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the offenders. Early investigations indicate that a van is being used to steal the bikes and move them quickly. Have you seen bikes being removed from a van and being stored somewhere?
In addition to these bike thefts, sadly, two more motorcycles were stolen from the shed of a house on Forest Road last night as well. The victims have been visited and CCTV enquiries have been made in the local area. Again we appeal to anyone who may have seen a van in the Haig Avenue area late on Wednesday night or in the early hours of today, Thursday 29th July or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage to help the investigations.
The owners are quite understandably devastated. Please assist us with our investigations if you can. If you wish to give information anonymously you can do that through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
In the meantime, the security advice given in our previous post is more relevant than ever. These bikes are being targeted by criminals equipped to cut through many types of locks. Where possible, move your bike into a secure location out of view and take every precaution that you can afford to do to protect your vehicle.
