New Merseyrail Train at Southport Station today

The new Merseyrail Train was on show at Southport Station today. First impressions were that they are bright and airy with lots of space on board. The seats however are rock hard a bit like Ryanair.

The trains boast a wide range of customer focussed features including pioneering sliding step technology, which creates step free access for all, dedicated bike storage areas, more space for wheelchairs, prams and luggage plus on board wi-fi.

Andy Heath, Managing Director for Merseyrail, said: “Over the last 50 years the Merseyrail brand has gone from strength to strength – from creation to the upcoming roll-out of the new fleet of trains.
