Ainsdale beach is being evacuated due to the discovery of an unexploded wartime bomb
This is a police led incident with support from Sefton council’s Green Sefton rangers
Shore Road will remain closed until further notice and we are asking anyone who is currently on the beach to leave the area immediately Beach now partially reopened. Significant area still closed off
Please see an update and imagery below following the temporary evacuation of Ainsdale Beach this morning.
We can confirm that Ainsdale Beach has been partially reopened to the public as of 13:00hrs.
This follows a joint decision this Am to evacuate the beach due to the discovery of potential unexploded wartime ordinance.
An investigation is ongoing and emergency services continue to close off around 50% of Ainsdale Beach car park.
This is a wholly precautionary measure while emergency services continue to deal with the incident.
Due to the reduced car park capacity, visitors by car may face a short wait to be admitted to the beach.
