Police arrest man in Southport town centre

Police were called to the junction of Chapel Street and London Street this morning (Sunday 21st July) after one of the street drinkers had been allegedly shouting abuse at people. The group of street drinkers have recently been moved from the benches on Chapel Street and now tend to congregate outside the newsagents on Hoghton Street.

The man was arrested and taken away in a police van as his friends continued to drink across the road.
