Police request to report crime to them and not post the crime on social media

Police are aware of a number of incidents where offenders have been seen trying car door handles overnight in the Southport area. These incidents have been posted on social media, but not reported to the police. We have viewed CCTV and are actively looking for the offenders, but if the incidents are not reported via the correct procedure, we will have nothing to put to anyone when arrested.
