PTS crew praised for their actions following a serious road traffic collision
Ambulance care assistants Peter (right) and Allan (left) have been praised for their quick actions and care after they came across a very serious RTC. They were returning back to base when they came across the accident and decided to stop and help.
Fortunately, there was an off duty paramedic on scene so along with them they offered immediate first aid to the casualties in the vehicle.
Patient transport service (PTS) ambulances are not equipped with essential equipment to support serious incidents like these. However, the crew made use of the limited equipment they had on board, including oxygen and the stretcher. They remained on scene until the emergency ambulance arrived and continued to provide care for the casualties until all assessments were complete.
Jo, PTS Team Leader, said “The feedback from the PES crews about their professionalism and patient care was exemplary and I was told they were a credit to the service. I’m proud to have them both as part of my team and cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, teamwork and patient care on the day.”
