Queenscourt Hospice Receives £5,760 Donation from Morrisons Foundation

Staff, patients and their families at Queenscourt Hospice were celebrating recently thanks to a donation of £5,760 from the Morrisons Foundation.

The hospice, which provides care to people with life limiting conditions and their families from all across West Lancashire, Southport and Formby, will use the funds to purchase specialist medical equipment to automatically administer pain relief to patients.

 

Lucy Smith, Grants & Trusts Officer explains: "One of the main aspects of our care is symptom management, empowering people to live comfortably. This donation will be used to purchase infusion pumps, which are an essential piece of equipment to help to make this possible. 

“Infusion pumps release very specific amounts of medications at set intervals, in a way that just wouldn’t be practical manually. For example, they can administer as little as 0.1ml per hour, which is too small for a drip, they can release fluids every minute, or they can be set to vary the volume by the time of day. 

“This funding has enabled us to purchase four of these vital pumps and we are truly grateful for Morrisons support of our hospice."

Anna Ingram, Community Champion at the Morrisons store in Southport presented the donation to the charity, saying: “It’s an absolute privilege to provide this grant of £5,760 to such a worthy cause in our community.  Queenscourt Hospice is a really well known and much loved charity and the equipment bought from our donation will make a massive difference to their vital work.”
