Radcliffe 4 Southport 1

After a great win at Alfreton in midweek Southport went into the game in a confident mood but that lasted just 5 minutes when Radcliffe took the lead with a long range effort from Tom walker that flew into the goal.
It got worse on 14 minutes as the home side doubled the lead through former ‘Port player Brad Jackson with a shot that took a wicked deflection that left Chris Renshaw with no chance.
We had had some neat passges of play in between the goals but no clear cut chances at goal. The talk at half time was all about the home game when Radcliffe had raced into an early 2-0 lead and we had pulled it back to 2-2.
All thoughts of that were extinguished in the 48th minute when the home side scored again through Danny Greenfield and added another after 72 minutes after more slack defensive work and Luca Navarro was on hand to lob home to make it 4-0.
Matters got worse when both Jamie Proctor and Danny Lloyd went off injured but Dior Angus did at least come on and grab a late goal to make it 4-1 in the 81st minute.
A large Southport following went home disappointed on an afternoon to forget.
