Scarisbrick Hotel in Southport still getting terrible reviews on TripAdvisor
Once one of the grandest Hotels in Southport The Scarisbrick on Lord Street has been allowed to deteriorate since being taken over by Britannia .
The Hotel has received some terrible comments in the last couple of months.
In Southport and my hotel is poor. £80 room for 2 in the town centre.
The do advise of poor parking and limited internet. They didn’t say it was tatty and basic.
First complaint the key card didn’t work ( not unusual). TV in the room didn’t work, they changed the TV. The shower tap was almost inoperable, the constant dripping of water was annoying.
Our daughters complained that their room was cold. We found out this morning that there had been a gas leak. That also explains why bacon, sausage and hash browns not available for the advertised cooked breakfast.
Stood in the long queues for coffee and toast .
I won’t but staying at the Scarisbeck Hotel again.
Wow what can I say about this hotel... Maybe just don't stay here. We Have been here for the weekend and the hotel it Awful. Our first room had no heating you could see our breath we complained and it wasn't fixed we complained again and were moved rooms. The second room was better in terms of heat and cleanliness but we were right above disco so all we heard was bass and music till 3am!!!
The food has around 6 options which the hotel didn't pass on that one of our family was dairy intollerent so she had chips and gravy for tea. The food was awful but chefs were lovely, probably not given the faciliies to work to their best! Second night a group of teenagers were roaming the hotel pissed and high and even started on myself for a fight as well as the receptionist so police had to be called!!
Staff are lovely but ran down due to being understaffed so obviously NO SUPPORT from business owners of this hotel. Feel sorry for the staff apart from 2 women in the food area who are just rude and nasty!!! Decor couldn't be anymore old style or ran down there is wallpaper torn off everywhere, electric boxes open without any cover so live leads just hanging about the corridors, NO SECURITY and just plain awful hotel!!!
We had to get more drunk to be able to put up with this hotel due to funds and time staying so stayed out as much as we could. Not forgetting the smell!!! EURGH THE SMELL. won't ever stay here again!!
Arrived here Friday teatime and we were given a 1st floor room as I'm disabled. The room was overlooking an alley full of bins and there is nightclubs and pubs right outside too. The room was icy cold and the coving around the radiator pipes was in dire need of ripping out and burning, it was mouldy and unpainted.
We asked to be moved and were given a 4th floor room. This was better but still ice cold. On asking we were told heating comes on at 5pm, what your a hotel and its November.
There was a big industrial ramp on the 1st floor and in my picture you can see the manky floor beyond it.
Glasses were left uncollected on tables all weekend then to cap it all the lift broke down with us in it. We got in and pressed 4th but it took us down to the basement and stuck . when we were rescued 30 minutes later I had to be carried out and back up 4 flights to our room. My partner was distraught.
That lift was still not working when we left !
We were told this hotel was disabled friendly well I missed the acts on both nights because the function room was up about 10 stairs with no toilets up there. One person serving drinks in there so 20 minutes wait to get a drink.
Climbing on a table to shut windows, no plug in bath it goes on and on.
Not hotel's fault but because of snow it took us 7 hours to get back to stockton.
That really capped a rubbish weekend off altogether.
Checked in at 5.30pm. Corridors lovely and toastie warm. Got to my room absolutely freezing. Went to reception to be told “heating goes on at 5, I’ll press the boost button” had a tiny radiator on all night was 2 degrees.
Up at 6 down to reception to be told heating is on at 5. Was warmer outside than in.
To be fair lad at reception gave me their industrial heater (what does that tell you) he then came to room to mess with the radiator. Nothing.
Rooms are tired and dated, only chose here because it was 5 minutes from where I have to be. Will look further a field for my next stay.
Let’s see if breaki any good.
We are all for live music however there is zero chance of getting any sleep untill after 5am until the bars close, room OK for what you pay, clean enough and a good location, avoid if you are a light sleeper!!
There was a good review from a happy guest.
We booked with UK Breakaways for a two night stay. We arrived four hours before check in but were shown straight to our room. I'd asked for a quite room and was given one at the side of the hotel. It was really big with everything we needed. It was very clean and lovely and warm.
All the staff we met were beyond helpful and nothing was too much trouble. All the food we had was nice I have a fussy husband and even he had his fill.
The entertainment man Donald was so nice and made everyone feel welcome we had no issues but I felt if we had of he would have sorted them with a smile 😊. The Dolly Parton tribute was great as were the 2 for 1 drinks. We will definitely be back again.
