Approaching 7,000 households in Sefton have now signed up to the new My Account service to make managing their Council Tax easier.
My Account enables Sefton residents to view and manage their Council Tax account via a safe and secure online portal. They can access it using a smartphone, laptop or desktop computer.

My Account users can also sign up to paperless billing and Direct Debits and make changes to their account without needing to speak to a Customer Services Advisor in the Contact Centre or visiting a One Stop Shop.
To register for My Account, people need to visit www.sefton.gov.uk/my-account and follow the simple instructions. This includes which include entering the details shown on their latest Council Tax or Business Rate bill.
Sefton’s businesses can also use My Account to check their Business Rate account and can sign up at www.sefton.gov.uk/MyAccount-business.
Cllr Paulette Lappin, Sefton Cabinet Member for Regulatory, Compliance and Corporate Services said:
“Although it is essential for so many services the Council provides, none of us enjoy paying our Council Tax bill, but at least My Account makes the process as easy as it can be.
“Plus, people and businesses talking advantage of the simpler My Account services online mean our Contact Centre or One Stop Shops can focus on those people who really need their assistance, which in turn helps to keep the Council’s costs down.”
Because Sefton Council understands some people do not have easy access to the Internet and smart phones to find information online, it provides free computer, Internet and Wi-Fi access at local Sefton libraries. And anyone struggling to get online can contact the Council’s Contact Centre on 0345 140 0845.
