Southport Beach car park may reopen in time for Bank Holiday weekend pending inspection
A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: “Due to a number of recent high tides and wet weather earlier this season, Southport Beach car park remains temporarily closed to vehicles.
“This closure has been in place to ensure cars do not get stuck in the soft and wet sand – something which would no doubt spoil a visit to our beautiful coastline!
“The beach has remained fully open to pedestrians throughout this time and there are alternate parking options for Southport Beach including Marine Drive and the Eco centre park and ride facility.”
“Our Green Sefton teams have been carrying out weekly inspections of the ground in order to determine when the car park can be safely reopened.
“An inspection is due to take place later this week where we hope to find the ground is once again able to accommodate cars in time for the Bank Holiday weekend (May 27th-May 29th).
“Once this inspection has concluded we will update everyone through our normal communication channels.”
