Southport Councillors Demand Action on Hazardous Pavements
Lib Dem councillors demand Council action on dangerous pavements in Crossens and Churchtown
Lib Dem Meols Ward Councillors John Dodd, Gareth Lloyd-Johnson and Lauren Keith are demanding action from the council to deal with the dangerous state of some pavements in Churchtown and Crossens.
Issues seem to have come from underground work being done by Wingnuts, contracted by Virgin Media.
Following many complaints from residents about pavements being left in dangerous states after the work has been completed, the Councillors have launched a survey for local residents to get a wider picture of which roads have been affected in the area. You can take part here.
Councillor Gareth Lloyd-Johnson, commented: “While it’s good news that internet work is being done underground rather than using telegraph poles, it’s clearly unacceptable that pavements are left in a dangerous state with trip hazards. There is an obligation on the contractor to return pavements to a good condition after doing work
Councillor John Dodd, added: “There are extensive conversations going on between councillors, Virgin Media, Sefton Council and Wingnuts to ensure that pavements are left in a better condition and that the contractors meet their obligations.
Councillor Lauren Keith, added: "Our survey will help us better map where the pavement issues are so they can be sorted promptly.”
