Southport FC Gears Up for Crucial Gloucester City Showdown

Southport have a trip down the M6/M5 on Saturday and a visit to the plastic pitch at Gloucester City. The game kicks off at 3pm.

After a poor run of results we will be looking to bounce back to the form that saw manager Jim Bentley pick up the Manager Of The Month award as recently as November.

Earlier this season we enjoyed a late winner against Gloucester to come out on top 2-1 and it is that form and result that is much needed on Saturday.

Gloucester are sitting in 22nd place six points behind ourselves and we have a game in hand. They had a fine 1-1 draw at Hereford  on New Year’s Day and only lost in the 9th minute of added time in the home game in front of a season’s best gate of 2498. They have lost six times at home, before the Hereford game they had a surprising home defeat to Darlington but have also recently had some good home wins under Mike Cook.

We return to The Big Help Stadium on Tuesday when Darlington are our visitors in the game rearranged from December 2nd. Kick Off is at 7.45pm.
