Southport Lifeboat and Quads Aid HM Coastguard in Search for Missing Individual

chopper

Our lifeboat and quads were tasked by HM Coastguard to assist in the search for a missing person in the region of Formby Beach.
The quads headed to Formby to undertake a search of the beach and dunes. Their search was aided by our UAS (drone), which undertook an initial search before the arrival of NPAS.

Due to the nature of the tide, the boat launched at Southport but was stood down shortly before arriving on scene after the casualty was located in the sand dunes by NPAS. Our quad team were guided to the casualty’s location, alongside HM Coastguard Southport and Crosby.

Following the police helicopter’s departure for refuelling, the drone relaunched to illuminate the area, allowing our quad and Coastguard teams to provide casualty care before extracting the individual out of the dunes and handing them over to North West Ambulance Service.
Our thanks to all involved in a multi-agency tasking which also involved Merseyside Police.
