Southport man to trek to Mt Everest base camp in aid of Woodlands Animal Sanctuary

Woodlands Animal Sanctuary are incredibly proud and humbled to announce that Dan Hutchinson, a personal trainer who works at Marshside Health Centre in Southport is planning to trek to Mt Everest Basecamp and from there go on to scale Lobuche East Peak.

Lobuche is 6119m above sea level in the Khumbu region of Nepal.Dan’s trek will take place over 20 days, beginning on 24th October, later this year.  Trekking for between 4 – 7 hours each day this is not a challenge for the faint hearted. All training, rest days and the chance to acclimatise will take place during these 20 days.

Dan will be trekking with a group from Elite Exped, which was founded by Nimsdai Purja MBE, whose 14 Peaks Documentary has recently launched on Netflix.  Dan has a keen interest in mountains and a definite sense that he wants to see as much as this planet has to offer as he can.  With a strong sense of adventure and a desire to push himself and his body to their limits, this seems a very fitting challenge.
