Southport MP Damien Moore comments on todays local elections

Today's local elections are crucial to the future of our town. Vote based on which party you believe will fight for Southport's interests on Bootle Labour-controlled Sefton Council.
Labour is failing on Children's Social Care, wasting our Council Tax and Business Rates on projects like the Strand, and want to impose cycle lanes and Liveable Neighbourhood Schemes against the wishes of residents. As a town we need to send them a clear message in these elections, regardless of which party you usually vote for.
Southport Conservatives have secured a £38.5 million Town Deal to rejuvenate our town centre, which is desperately needed following the decline we have seen over the past two decades under Labour and the Lib Dems. Already £1 million from this has been used to pay for the lights along Lord Street and the renovation of the Indoor Market.
And we have further plans - we have a costed proposal to invest £750,000 in our town's green spaces (including the Botanic Gardens), we are moving closer to securing the return of the Burscough Curves, and are working hard to tackle long-term flooding issues, support local businesses, and ensure our social care services are fit for purpose.
Your Conservative candidates have been out knocking on doors and speaking to residents; they understand the issues people have and how to address them. Regardless of which party people vote for nationally, they are backing their local Conservative candidates tomorrow.
This election is a choice between a stronger Labour Party in Bootle, or a stronger Southport Conservative team fighting for our town.
Vote to send Bootle Labour an incredibly clear message - give Southport the respect, funding, and attention we deserve.
