Southport's Botanic Gardens Plagued by Night-time Drug Activities

Following complaints of anti-social behaviour in Botanic Gardens at night, Neighbourhood Police Officers and PCSO's have been doing sweeps of the park by torchlight.

A number of young men have been found in Botanic Gardens in possession of cannabis, while sweeps of Crossens Recreation Ground have led to seizures of both class A and class B drugs. Where possible, these have been dealt with by means of Community Resolution, where the offender is interviewed at a later date and agrees a programme of action. Where class A drugs were found, this had led to arrests.
Day or night, we will patrol the areas where our communities want us to be.
