Southport Secure Crucial Three Points in Tough Away Fixture Against Scarborough
Southport came away with all 3 points from the Flamingo Land Stadium in Scarborough this afternoon. Tyler Walton scored the only goal in the 54th minute. The win moves Southport up to 15th place in the league with 50 points.
Southport picked up a fantastic three points returning from the east coast with a 1-0 win at Scarborough Athletic this afternoon.
Tyler Walton got the only goal of the game in the 54th minute coolly finishing after being played through the middle.
It could have been even better for the travelling Sandgrounders when Connor Heath was clean through on goal in added time but the ‘keeper did well to put out a leg and divert the ball wide.
The first half saw chances at both ends of the pitch with the home side starting and ending the half well but the visitors defence was on top form and repelled all that was thrown at them with captain Adam Anson outstanding at the back once again.
Heath and Anson both went close to scoring in the first half which ended goalless.
The home side started the second half on top and twice went close with the evergreen Tony McMillan in superb form in goal making two good saves but after the early pressure it was Southport who took the lead, a lead they hung on to claim the three points.
Nine yellow cards in the game which apart from a few minor flashpoints was never a nine yellow card game.
A brilliant, travelling and positive support which the lads acknowledged at the end of the game.
