Southport Slip to 19th After Devastating Defeat to King’s Lynn
After a resounding 4-1 win at The Walks in early September it was down to earth with a bump as King’s Lynn got their revenge in great style leaving The Big Help Stadium with all three points in the bag after a 4-0 win against an out of sorts Southport side.
It was all too easy for the visitors who carved through the Southport rearguard at will and could have scored more goals.
We did create some good openings but there was nobody to finish them off which was the main difference between the sides.
The visitors goals came in the 14th, 19th, 57th and 79th minutes.
Josh Hmami and David Morgan had good chances in the first half to give the scoreline more respectabilty and Brad Holmes saw the visiting keeper pull off a fantastic save in the second half. Richie Bennett had a goal disallowed for a foul on the ‘keeper.
Sadly it was another off day and a goals against count of 18 from the last four games is cause for concern as we slip to 19th in the table.
We return to action on Tuesday, Boxing Day with a trip to Curzon and that game kicks off at 3pm and that is followed by the return game with Curzon at home on New Years Day also a 3pm Kick Off.
