Southport stop the rot with a draw at Brackley
After 12 defeats in a row a visit to Brackley is not one you would put on your wish list but Southport ended the poor run with a fantastic point in a 0-0 draw.
To see the players, managers, supporters and staff smiling again after 101 minutes was a pleasing sight.
Make no mistake about it this was an excellent team performance with every single one of the lads giving his all out there today.
Yes, we rode our luck a bit in the first half with the outstanding Chris Renshaw in magnificent form in goal with some excellent saves but with the defence growing in confidence we rode the storm and Chris was rarely troubled in the second period.
Andy gave a debut to Tom Costello signed this week on loan from Coventry City and he slotted in well until tiring having not played too much football at this level in recent weeks.
Whilst Chris took the plaudits there were other excellent performances. David Morgan, getting fitter with every game was outstanding in the middle of the park, Keenan Quansah in his favoured and best position at right back had his best game and Tyler Walton covered every blade of grass.
There were some tired bodies at the end of the game but the relief and belief was back as we head into the Monday local derby against Chorley.
