Southport trains to return to every 15 minutes timetable from 2nd May
During the COVID-19 pandemic Merseyrail services were reduced due to the impact the virus had on staffing numbers, however, we are pleased to announce the return of the pre-COVID 15 minute timetable.
From Monday 2 May services will run as follows between Monday to Saturday:
- Trains on the Ormskirk, Kirkby, Chester, New Brighton and West Kirby lines will run every 15 minutes between approximately 07:00 and 19:00, with a 30 minute service operating outside of these hours.
- Between Southport & Hunts Cross line trains will run every 15 minutes from the start to the end of service.
- On the Ellesmere Port line a 30 minute service will continue to run with additional trains between 07:15 and 08:30 for the morning peak and 16:30 and 17:30 for the evening peak.
A 30 minute service will continue to run on Sundays across all lines.
3 and 6 car trains
To date a 20 minute service has been running, using 6 car trains as much as possible to increase capacity on services. From Monday 2 May, Merseyrail will be returning to a 15-minute service across the network with a mixture of 3 and 6 car trains. To check which services will run as 6 cars please click here.
