Southport lose 5-1 at league leaders South Shields
Southport lost 5-1 at league leaders South Shields on Saturday, November 7, after the home side produced a devastating first-half performance.
South Shields threatened from the opening minutes and took the lead in the 14th minute when Cedwyn Scott curled a shot beyond Douglass Lukjanciks. Paul Blackett headed a second eight minutes later, before Scott added his second in the 35th minute.
Adam Campbell completed a dominant first half when he followed up after the ball fell loose in the Southport penalty area. The Sandgrounders went into the break 4-0 down.
Southport created little before half-time, with Luke Griffiths sending one effort wide. The visitors improved after the interval, but South Shields continued to create chances and Lukjanciks made several saves to keep the score down.
