Southport came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Hednesford, scoring twice in added time to rescue a point.

Anyone who left early, including supporters from both sides, would have been shocked by the final score. Southport had looked out of sorts for much of the match and appeared to be heading for defeat.

Hednesford took the lead shortly before half-time when Dylan Mottley-Henry scored in the 44th minute. The hosts doubled their advantage in the 68th minute when Lenni Cirino was allowed to run through unchallenged before firing home.

Southport’s first real attempt on goal came in the 91st minute. Substitute Daniel Ogwuru found the back of the net to reduce the deficit to 2-1.

It looked like being only a consolation, but Sol Solomon scored the equaliser in the 95th minute. The late turnaround earned the travelling Sandgrounders another point and left Hednesford to settle for a draw.
