Step into the Colourful Maze of Wildlife at Martin Mere's Wild Walk
It’s the place where you’re encouraged to run wild to your heart's content! But what actually is Martin Mere’s Wild Walk?
Wild Walk is all about becoming a nature explorer, meandering through mazes of wetland tracks, muddy meadows and wobbly bridges. Let’s take you through everything you can expect at Wild Walk!
Giant wellington boot
As you arrive at the entrance of Wild Walk, you’ll see our iconic, unmissable giant wellington boot - that’s how you know you’re at the right place!
Play area
Starting your adventure, you’ll see our new play area. Test your balance on the balance weaver and balance beam, take on the swinging steps, and brave the rickety bridge.
One of the world's largest bug hotels
Next stop: one of the world’s largest bug hotels! Taking a month to build at 18.46 cubic metres, the bug hotel is home to residents like leafcutter bees, mason bees, spiders, moths, butterflies, and maybe even a frog.
It’s made from 720 boxes with the help of local schools, businesses, thousands of visitors and broke world records in 2017 for the world’s largest bug hotel. Look closely and see what you can find lurking inside the boxes!
Maze of wildlife
Then you’ll continue your journey through a maze of plants like meadowsweet, soft rush, water mint, and reed. It’s full of colours, smells, and textures to fill your senses.
Uncover the Wild Walk secrets
As you explore all of the surroundings, you’ll discover the incredible secrets of Wild Walk including our wobbly bridges, a giant nest, and sky seats. And in the middle, take a seat in our middle lodge for a quick rest before continuing your adventure.
