Yesterday police raided the old offices of Barton Park Nursing Home after a member of the public reported a strong smell of cannabis coming from the building. They arrested three men and found over 1000 cannabis plants.

Matt Brown, head of Cannabis Dismantling said: “Firstly, I must thank the member of the public who reported this to the police. There were clear signs that cannabis was being grown from this building and the person was thankfully able to identify them and do the right thing by reporting it to the police. It’s important to know what these signs are, just in case you come across one in your own community.

“It’s pleasing to seize so many illegal plants and to put an end to a potential death-trap, which is exactly what these cannabis farms are, because they pose serious dangers. Cannabis farms in neighbourhoods, no matter what the size, pose a real risk to nearby residents who not only have to put up with the anti-social behaviour associated with this criminality, but also the risk of a fire being ignited from illegally extracting electricity.

"This shows the occupant has a total disregard of the safety of residents living close by. It also highlights the importance that we find cannabis farms as quickly as possible.

“If you spot any signs that cannabis is being grown near where you live and work please let us know so that we can continue to take action. Any information helps residents and the work we do, so make us aware and we will investigate."
