Bootle-to-Anfield shuttle bus to start for Liverpool home matches
A new trial shuttle bus service will run from Bootle to Anfield for Liverpool home matches from Sunday 9 August 2026.
The first service will run for Liverpool’s 2.30pm pre-season friendly against AS Monaco. Liverpool FC has confirmed the match will take place at Anfield on Sunday 9 August 2026.
The service will build on the matchday transport links already operating between Bootle and Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium. Supporters can use Bootle’s public transport connections and the Strand Shopping Centre multi-storey car park before continuing by shuttle bus.
Sefton Council says the arrangements are designed to reduce congestion around major fixtures while bringing more visitors into Bootle town centre for local businesses.
The new route is service 968. It will leave from stand 4 at Bootle Bus Station and drop passengers at the existing Everton Valley bus stop, close to Anfield. Buses will begin running three hours before kick-off.
Councillor Paulette Lappin, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Economy and Skills, said:
“The introduction of the shuttle service to Hill Dickinson Stadium has shown what a valuable role Bootle can play as a transport hub for sporting events.”
“We're delighted to build on that success by extending the service to Liverpool FC home matches. Supporters will have another convenient travel option, while local businesses will benefit from the increased number of visitors passing through the town on matchdays.”

The trial will run for Liverpool home matches. Supporters are advised to check the latest timetable and travel information before setting off.
