Train services between Southport and Hall Road were suspended on Saturday, August 22, after reports that a person had been hit by a train at Freshfield.

Merseyrail said disruption was expected to continue until around 2pm. A limited service was running between Liverpool Central and Hall Road.

Rail replacement buses had been requested between Southport and Hall Road, but were not yet operating when the alert was issued. Merseyrail warned that any replacement service was likely to be very limited because of other events taking place in the region.

Passengers with valid train tickets can travel at no extra cost on Arriva’s 47 service and Stagecoach’s X2 service. Tickets are also being accepted on Northern trains between Southport and Liverpool Lime Street via Wigan.

The disruption affects journeys to and from Southport, with trains unable to run between Southport and Hall Road. Customers are advised to allow extra time and consider making alternative arrangements where possible.

Passengers should check the latest service information before setting out, as arrangements may change during the day.
