Southport Road closed after burst water main floods properties in Scarisbrick
Southport Road in Scarisbrick is closed in both directions after a burst water main caused flooding at a small number of properties.
United Utilities said its teams were on site dealing with the incident. The company is contacting affected customers with advice and support and has brought in specialist loss adjusters to help assess the damage.
The closure is in place so engineers can work safely. United Utilities said it was working with the local authority and police to arrange a diversion route, but advised motorists to avoid the area if possible.
“Our team is onsite responding to a burst water main in Southport Road, Scarisbrick.Unfortunately, the incident has resulted in flooding to a small number of properties. We are contacting customers directly to offer advice and support and have mobilised specialist loss adjusters.To enable teams to work safely it is necessary to close the road in both directions. We are working with the local authority and the Police to arrange a diversion route, but we are advising motorists to avoid the area if possible.We apologise for the disruption.”
No timetable for reopening the road was provided.
