Two Arrested in Connection with Contaminated Drugs Case in Southport
Police can confirm that two people have been arrested as part of an investigation into the supply of contaminated drugs in Southport.
A 51-year-old man from Southport and a 32-year-old woman from Waterloo were both arrested in Liverpool yesterday (Monday 27 April) on suspicion of manslaughter. They remain in police custody.
On Monday 13 April, a 62-year-old man was found deceased at a home on Leyland Road, in Southport, following a suspected overdose.A post mortem has been carried out and toxicology enquiries are ongoing.
There have also been reports of non-fatal overdoses in the area in recent weeks and some people have required hospital treatment.
We are working closely with partners, including Sefton Council, Public Heath and local support services, following reports that contaminated drugs have been sold in the Southport area.
